Children’s Dentistry – Midwest City, OK
Helping Growing Smiles Thrive!
Many parents are surprised just how early they need to start taking care of their child’s smile. In addition to wiping down their gums after feedings when they are infants, they should come in for a dental checkup and teeth cleaning every six months starting around their first birthday. Once they are two or three, you can schedule these biannual visits with Dr. Kendrick, our dedicated, caring, and highly trained dentist. He’ll do everything he can to prevent tooth decay and other oral health problems from surfacing as well. Read on to learn how!
Pediatric Dental Checkups & Cleanings
In the early years, your child will likely need some assistance in order to thoroughly brush and floss their teeth. Even then, it’s possible for food particles, plaque, and other debris to get left behind, increasing their risk of oral health problems like cavities. That’s why routine checkups and cleanings at our Midwest City dental office are so important! In addition to answering any questions you have about your child’s oral health, Dr. Kendrick will conduct an oral exam, review his findings, and determine if any follow-up care is needed. We’ll also gently clean their teeth, clearing away plaque in the process.

Dental Sealants
Did you know that more than 90% of Americans have had a cavity by their 21st birthday? To help prevent your child from becoming a part of that statistic, we offer dental sealants in addition to routine dental checkups and teeth cleanings. These are essentially clear coatings that are applied over the top of their molars and premolars, helping prevent bacteria and other harmful particles from burrowing into the nooks and crannies of the chewing surfaces. The treatment process is completely painless and quick, and the results can last for 10 years!

Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that strengthens tooth enamel and helps prevent tooth decay. As a result, it’s added to many oral hygiene products, including toothpaste, as well as city tap water. If your child is susceptible to cavities, however, we may also recommend adding fluoride treatments to the end of their routine dental checkups and teeth cleanings. This will only take a few minutes to complete, and there’s no pain involved. The only difference is that they will need to avoid eating or drinking anything for 20-30 minutes after their appointment.
